Sound experts working out of Twickenham Film Studios have claimed an Oscar for the Tom Cruise blockbuster 'Top Gun: Maverick'.
The thrill a minute film has been credited with reviving a love for the cinema following the pandemic and bringing millions of people back to the big screen over the summer.
No-one was happier about its success at the box office than the team at Twickenham Film Studios, who created the exhilarating final mix for the soundtrack and were honoured in Hollywood this week.
Tweeting about the triumph, TFS, which is based in St Margarets, said: "The Oscar for Best Sound goes to...Top Gun:Maverick
"Huge congratulations to Recordist Mark Weingarten, Supervising Sound Editors James Mather and Al Nelson, Mixers Chris Burdon and Mark Taylor, along with the teams at Soundbyte & Skywalker."
It added: "Proud to be the home of Top Gun's final mix."
The film features an all-star cast led by Tom Cruise, who returned as Captain Pete 'Maverick' Mitchell, in a thrill and minute film that won rave reviews.
The success is just the latest accolade for Twickenham Film Studios, which has a long and glorious history dating back to 1913 involving a long list of Oscars and BAFTAs, for productions such as Bohemian Rhapsody.
It has hosted many of the greats from film to popular music, from Michael Redgrave to Michael Caine's Alfie and The Italian Job, through to the Beatles, Richard Attenborough and more recently Kenneth Branagh, who worked on Belfast there.
