Richmond upon Thames is full of incredible people, groups and businesses doing good and making a difference every single day.

Now is the chance to shine a spotlight on their inspiring work by nominating them for Richmond Council's 2024-25 Community Heroes Awards.

These annual awards recognise and celebrate those who selflessly volunteer their time and efforts to improve their communities and people's lives, often under the radar and without expecting anything in return.

Cllr Nancy Baldwin, Spokesperson for Communities, Equalities and the Voluntary Sector, said: "Richmond upon Thames is defined by its remarkable people.

"Every day, we see acts of kindness, creativity and dedication that transform lives.

"The Community Heroes Awards are our way of saying thank you to the local movers and shakers who step up in a big way to give back to their local area."

She continued: "Most of us will know such unsung heroes—those local businesses, groups and clubs, good neighbours and inspiring individuals who go above and beyond to look after our most vulnerable.

"Their efforts help create stronger, more welcoming communities for their neighbours or champion initiatives that help our local areas and residents thrive. I encourage you to nominate them and help us show them just how much their hard work means to our borough."

This year's awards feature a range of categories highlighting contributions of all kinds, including:

  • Business Contribution in the Community
  • Community Project of the Year
  • Community Spirit Award
  • Environmental Award
  • Young Person Achievement
  • Lifetime Achievement
  • And more

If you know someone who you consider to be a hero to your community, submit your nomination through the simple online form by Wednesday 26 February 2025.

You can submit nominations in as many categories as you like ahead of the deadline.

A full list of award categories and criteria, as well as examples of previous winners, can be found on the Community Heroes website.

An awards ceremony for shortlisted candidates will be held on Tuesday 29 April 2025, when the full shortlist and winners for each category will be announced.

Nominations should be for work in a voluntary capacity only.
