The capital's favourite flavour of crisps has been revealed to celebrate National Crisp Day.
Its top choice of the humble salted may come as a surprise to many, especially given its massive lead over the runner-up, salt and vinegar.
In fact, the rather plain staple has proven almost three times as popular as salt and vinegar.
Cheese and onion follows close behind in third place.
The ranking was produced using the number of online mentions of each flavour over the last 12 months by online gambling company Betway.
The company tracked 14 flavours in all with the national results below:
- Salted, 11,161,651
- Cheese and Onion, 4,593,861
- Salt and Vinegar, 4,575,259
- Prawn Cocktail, 2,555,499
- Bacon, 1,165,554
- Sour Cream and Chive, 992,052
- Cheese, 978,836
- Pickled Onion, 530,236
- Beef, 511,285
- Paprika, 418,291
- Sweet Chili, 340,166
- Roast Chicken , 284,153
- Chorizo, 178,636
- BBQ, 164,806
The country's crisp consumption has only increased over the last few years.
According to Statista's research department, the average Brit bought only 56 grams of crisps a week in 2006, compared to 66 grams in 2021.
That same year saw almost 163 thousand tons of crisps sold across the UK – an all time high.
