Police have warned residents about a fraudster in Hampton Wick.

The message was shared on Friday afternoon (December 4).

The scam involves a man distracting motorists when they come to buy a ticket at pay and display parking machines on Upper Teddington Road.

He says the machine only accepts card payments, distracts them and then steals their card.

The police said: "A male with a French accent is targeting pay and display parking machines, on Upper Teddington Road.

"He explains the machine only takes card, distracts the person using the machine after the PIN is input and takes the bank card whilst the person is distracted.
