A local theatre group is set to perform Annie Baker's Circle Mirror Transformation in Hampton Hill next month.
Lifelike Theatre's production of Baker's play will run from 18 – 21 February in the Main Hall at St James's Church with a starting time of 7.45pm.
The play's synopsis says: Are we going to be doing any real acting?...Like acting out a play?
"Five people meet every week in their local community hall for drama classes. Mostly strangers, they connect through games, releasing their imagination, and reenacting moments from their past.
"Pulitzer Prize winner Annie Baker's funny, tender, and deeply humane play finds beauty in the smallest moments and reminds us how extraordinary ordinary life can be.
"From the writer of the critically acclaimed National Theatre plays The Flick, John, The Antipodies and Infinite Life.
"This new site-specific production is performed in a venue just like where it's set."
Speaking about why he chose to direct this play, the productions Director, Ben Clare, told Nub News: "I've loved this play for years and have wanted to stage it ever since I first read it.
"What I like best is that it's about five very ordinary people who turn up to a drama class in a community centre, and they discover more about themselves and each other than they bargained for.
"The dialogue feels incredibly real and we're staging it in the kind of room it's set in. Our venue is the hall next to St James's Church in the middle of the community in Hampton Hill. It will feel like you're there with them - although there's no audience participation!
"You can just sit back and enjoy watching this group of people get to know each while they play seemingly daft drama games."
Lifelike Theatre's cast for this production includes Charles Golding, Olivia Jackson, Kirsty Macdonald, Catherine Overstall Roche, and Daniel Wain
Clare added: "I've enjoyed working with this cast so much - they represent three generations and I think it's always so interesting to form cross generational communities and see how we interact with each other.
"Above all this play is very entertaining but looks at how we strive to live fulfilling lives."
Tickets to the play are on sale now and can be bought here.
