The Teddington Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) has issued a scam alert.

Teddington SNT said: "Residents are advised to remain vigilant following reports of two individuals posing as builders and approaching homes in Teddington's Harrowdene Gardens.

"These individuals are knocking on doors and falsely claiming that properties require urgent work."

Teddington SNT advises residents to follow the following guidance:

·       Do not allow anyone into your home unless you are certain of their identity and purpose.

·       Always request and thoroughly check identification, including verifying the company they claim to represent.

·       No legitimate contractor will request payment at your doorstep.

·       Before agreeing to any work, ensure you have confirmed the details with your housing management or an authorised representative.

Report any suspicious behaviour immediately through: 

·       999 – for emergencies or if you feel threatened

·       101– for non-emergency incidents

·       Met Engage- to speak with your local Safer Neighbourhood Team

Teddington SNT added: "Please stay alert and support one another, together let's keep our homes safe."
