Local MP Munira Wilson reacted angrily tonight to the Prime Minister's comments over his senior adviser Dominic Cummings at the 5pm press briefing.

She said: "Absolutely extraordinary statement from PM. He didn't have much moral authority left in this crisis.

"What little there might have been has now vanished. My inbox is bulging with msgs from livid constituents with heart rending stories of the sacrifices they've made to follow rules."

Last night she called for the resignation of Cummings following his alleged breaches of the lockdown rules.

In a statement she said:"Cummings behaved irresponsibly and illegally.

"Many, like you, have followed govt guidance and made huge sacrifices to do so to keep us all safe.

"For a senior govt adviser to so flagrantly flout the rule is a resigning matter as far as I'm concerned."

The Lib Dem MP's call came amid unconfirmed reports that Cummings paid a SECOND visit to Durham - 260 miles away from London - during the lockdown.

The adviser has strongly refuted claims that he has done anything wrong. "I behaved reasonably and legally," he said.
