A local charity will be cheering on two of its supporters who will be running 5k as part of their London Marathon training next month.
Crossroads Care Richmond & Kingston is inviting locals to support Joanna and Ella, who are running the marathon in aid of the charity, at the Old Deer Parkrun on 14 February.
In a post on Facebook, the charity said: "All of the sisters' efforts are in loving memory of their dad Clive who sadly lost his life to pulmonary fibrosis a year ago. Crossroads supported the family during Clive's final weeks, making this cause particularly close to their hearts.
"Old Deer Parkrun holds special significance for the family. Clive was the Director of Old Deer Parkrun, a passionate runner, and the person who inspired his daughters' love of running. He also ran the London Marathon in 2008.
"After completing the parkrun, Joanna and Ella will be inviting anyone who would like to join them to run an extra mile in Clive's memory.
"On 26 April 2026, Joanna and Ella will be taking on the full 26.2 miles of the TCS London Marathon in memory of their dad, raising funds for Crossroads which gives vital breaks to carers in need."
Joanna and Ella have already raised £2,036 of their £4k target. You can donate to their funding page and learn more about their story here.
Should you wish to support the sisters in February, contact Crossroads Care on [email protected] and let them know.
