Local charity Crossroads Care Richmond and Kingston, that gives respite care and support to unpaid carers and the people they care for (of all ages and disability), has said thank you to everyone who so generously supported their Christmas Hamper Appeal.

The annual appeal, which the charity ran for the third time in December 2023, raised more than £1,500. This enabled Crossroads Care to hand-deliver gorgeous hampers filled with festive food items to more than 50 often isolated, older carers looking after loved-ones with conditions such as dementia.

Crossroads Care CEO, Julie Da Costa said: 'We are delighted and so grateful that once again people have supported our Christmas Hamper Appeal — thank you to everyone who helped us to lift the spirits of our older carers during what can be one of the most isolating times of the year for them.

'We would also like to say thank you to our Friends of Crossroads, and to the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, Teddington Nub News, TW Magazines and Teddington Together for their contributions and for helping us spread the word about our annual appeal.'The hampers provided some heart-warming smiles and moments of joy to our older clients.

'What a lovely surprise,' said one carer. 'This all looks yummy. People are so kind. Thank you all so very much.'

'This is totally unexpected, but simply lovely,' said another carer. 'Do please thank everyone who donated. Thank you, Crossroads, this has really cheered us both up.'
