Line-side fire at Clapham Junction spells travel chaos for evening commuters

Large numbers of rail services in south west London face disruption into the evening as tracks heading both to and from central London are blocked by a nearby fire around Clapham Junction.

Announcing the incident at 12:35pm today, Wednesday 24 July, rail operator South Western Railway told commuters to expect numerous cancellations, delays and revisions until 6pm.

  • Train services towards London Waterloo are not calling at Earlsfield, Clapham Junction, Vauxhall.
  • Train services from London Waterloo to Wimbledon are not calling at Vauxhall, Clapham Junction and Earlsfield.
  • Shepperton Services will be diverted via Richmond calling additionally at Twickenham and Strawberry Hill in both directions.

Those looking to travel to affected stations are encouraged to head to Clapham Junction or London Waterloo and continue their journeys from there.

Tickets on affected services will be accepted on District Line services to and from Wimbledon and on buses between Wimbledon and London Waterloo.
