Part-time Copywriter (ideally south based)

As part of its partnership with the Co-op, Nub News is looking for a part-time copywriter to work with our talented team of journalists.

We are looking for a self-starter with good communication skills, great organisational qualities, punctuality and the ability to adapt and respond quickly to changing circumstances and deadlines and to work to a defined house style. The job will come with the help and support of our journalists and the Co-op teams.

The post will be home-based – though will involve liaising with communities across the UK, establishing a rapport and understanding of the Co-op ethos and the community values it shares with Nub News.

If you are:

Thorough and pay attention to detail and have the ability to come up with new ways of doing things

Have knowledge of media production and communication

Have the ability to work well with others

Have excellent verbal and written communication skills

can be part of a unified team.

Experienced Regional News Sales Executive

Nub News is looking to hire a sales person.

Junior and Senior PHP/Full Stack LAMP Web Developer

Nub News is a 2 year old start up, publishing local news websites in towns around the UK. We're growing fast, and we have closed a significant round of financing in the last month. This makes us both a safe bet, and an exciting company to join, as we look to scale up over the next 2 years.

We build and operate our own platform, and we're looking for a LAMP full stack engineer, with a desire to be involved as right hand person, building out the platform further. We're looking for someone who is a great coder, has a natural aptitude for product design, and can work quickly helping us innovate the front end website functionality, with powerful local content databases and functionality.

Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate is a highly resourceful and innovative developer who enjoys problem solving and is excited by the opportunity to build cutting edge responsive websites in a fast-moving industry. You must also possess a strong knowledge of web application development using the PHP programming language and MySQL Server databases.

We will consider remote workers from anywhere in the UK, as we are a distributed team. However, our CTO is based in Bridgwater, Somerset and a local developer would be a bonus.

Responsibilities:

- Perform a mix of enhancements, new development and tech support as required.

- Work in a data analyst role and with business intelligence applications.

- Document features, technical specifications & infrastructure responsibilities.

- Work cross-functionally to convert business needs into technical specifications.

Qualifications:

- 2+ years experience for Junior, 3-4 for senior in PHP web development and software design.

- Expertise in front-end technologies (HTML, JavaScript, CSS, Bootstrap), MySQL databases and Linux server administration.

- Experience in Git, React and AWS/Azure/GCP/Rackspace Cloud desirable.

Compensation:

We are offering a competitive salary between £20-25k for Junior role and £35-40k for senior role with excellent career development opportunities.
