Slim Radio, West London's independent dance music station, is launching on DAB digital radio across West London and surrounding areas, including Teddington, from 1 July 2026.

Built by DJs, music lovers and local creatives, Slim Radio has grown from an online station into a serious new voice for underground music and independent broadcasting.

Broadcasting 24/7, Slim Radio is DJ-led and champions underground House, Soul, R&B, Disco, Jazz Funk, Drum & Bass and Rare Groove, with live shows, specialist sets and first-class DJ talent.

At a time when much of radio has become national, automated and playlist-led, Slim Radio fills a clear gap: a genuinely local dance music station with personality, energy and deep roots in the communities it serves.

The station's arrival on DAB gives listeners a new destination for high-quality music, live DJs and local voices.

Its sound is rooted in West London's club culture, pirate radio heritage and the wider dance music scenes that have shaped British nightlife for decades.

Derek Walton, co-founder of Slim Radio, said: "West London has always had music, diversity and creativity running through it, but there has been a real gap for a local dance music station that reflects that energy properly. Slim Radio is about more than playing records.

"It is about giving DJs a platform, giving listeners a station they can feel part of, and keeping proper radio alive in a world that has become very algorithm-driven. Getting onto DAB is a huge moment for us.

"People will now be able to find Slim Radio in their cars, homes and workplaces across West London and the surrounding areas.

"We want to bring back that feeling of discovering a station, locking in, hearing real presenters and knowing you are part of something local."

Slim Radio already has a roster of presenters and DJs, a loyal online audience and professionally produced programming.

Its DAB launch will take the station to a wider audience, including commuters, local businesses, venues, dance music fans and listeners looking for a fresh alternative to mainstream radio.

Walton added: "Slim Radio's move to DAB comes as small-scale digital radio gives independent broadcasters a stronger voice across the UK.

"For Slim Radio, it is a chance to prove that local radio can still be exciting, relevant and culturally important when it is powered by passion, community and proper musical knowledge."

Listeners can hear Slim Radio on DAB digital radio from 1 July 2026 across West London and surrounding areas.
