Hardwicke Circus to bring fresh rock ‘n’ roll sound to Putney’s iconic Half Moon pub – after glowing Mojo music mag review
Hardwicke Circus will bring its uniquely refreshing rock 'n' roll sound to The Half Moon in Putney, London, on July 26, joined by an artist currently on tour with The Who.
Lead vocalist Jonny Foster describes the Half Moon as one of the most distinguished music venues in London.
"It's a very established, sought-after venue, so it's very hard to get a date in there," he says.
"Fortunately, the venue likes the band and knows we can make it a great night. We're very excited for it."
There will be an opening set by Isabella Coulstock, who is currently touring with The Who and has recently supported them at London's O2 Arena. Malcolm Morley, from 1970s bands Help Yourself and Man, will provide a supporting set.
Doors will open at 7pm. Tickets cost £8 online and £10 on the door.
Over the last year and a half, Hardwicke Circus has built a strong London following with a string of free gigs at smaller venues throughout the city.
Jonny said: "We're so grateful for that because it's allowed us to build a fanbase. With the Half Moon, we want to bring everybody together for this gig and show we can headline a ticketed gig in our own right.
"Alongside Mojo, that's another great bump for the band."
The band's latest album, Fly The Flag, recently received a four-star review (the highest possible rating) in major music magazine Mojo.
"It's kind of the last great music mag, so we're super pleased we got in," Jonny says.
"There's a hugely dedicated following for this magazine, so it's exciting to be included with that kind of calibre of artists. The short review sums up the album perfectly.
"It's definitely a bucket list thing – I've got piles of Mojo magazines stacked up in my room from back in the day."
What's next for the band? An interview in Mojo, perhaps?
"Get me on the cover, then I'll talk", Jonny quips.
"I'd love to do an interview. I think what's fascinating with this record is people are hearing the stories behind the songs, which create a great picture for them to connect with."
