A Hampton schoolboy has won a national competition to find the UK's 'green voices of the future' and will get the chance to make a speech at this year's COP26 event in Glasgow.

Guillaume, a first-year pupil at the private Hampton Boys School, is one of 4 winners of a competition run by the National Grid to write a speech on how to achieve a more environmentally friendly world.

He and three other young climate champions will address the conference of world leaders this Friday (5 November) in a video montage of the speeches.

Guillame, known as 'Gui', urged supermarkets to 'become super at no plastic creation' and said he would make every other building a green building in his award-winning speech.

He also bagged a £5,000 grant for Hampton to be put towards initiatives focused on climate change and STEM subjects plus £150 of National Book Tokens and science related toys for himself.

Hampton's Joint Head of First Year, Mrs V Halford, said: "Gui represents many young people who are passionate about the environment and taking action against climate change and we are very proud that he is taking a stand on behalf of his generation. Congratulations Guillaume!"

MP Munira Wilson said the news was "fantastic" and that she was looking forward to hearing his speech.
