Hampton pub officially reopens under new ownership
By Tilly O'Brien 25th Jun 2026
An historic pub has officially reopened, according to Robert Lee, leader of campaign group Save the Dip, which has been rallying to save the pub since its former landlord died in 2024.
Accoridng to Lee, The Railway Bell, affectionately known as The Dip, officially reopened on Tuesday night (23 June) "in time for the England match".
The future of the pub, which dates back to the 19th century, was hanging in the balance after popular landlord Seamus O'Kane died in April 2024.
Owner Stonegate Group, which runs more than 4,500 venues in the UK, put the pub on the market for £1m with estate agents Savills last year.
However, the pub has now been bought and refurbished by a local unknown businessman.
Speaking about the sale, Lee previously told Nub News: "I can confirm that the pub has been bought by a local businessman who is currently renovating the property.
"It is expected to reopen in the coming weeks and I'm sure the whole community looks forward to welcoming it back."
