Myth, magic and merriment descend upon Hampton Court Palace this Christmas as Historic Royal Palaces welcomes guests of all ages on a spellbinding adventure through the enchanted world of Winter Palace: The Christmas Beast Ball.

From 28 November 2026 – 3 January 2027, mythical beasts, great and small, from distant magical lands have travelled far and wide to gather at Hampton Court Palace for a celebration like no other.

At its heart lies The Christmas Beast Ball in the Cartoon Gallery, where visitors can interact with fantastical creatures and witness live performances as the Court comes to life.

Lanterns will glow and halls will hum with music as Yuletide revelry takes hold, with the cunning Lord of Revels, Seymour Panther, setting the festivities in motion.

Equipped with a bespoke map, guests are invited to roam the Palace where preparations are underway for the great Ball, passing richly dressed historic rooms transformed into a winter wonderland, with frosted Christmas trees and glittering garlands.

The journey begins in Clock Court, with the Guardian Dragon lying in quiet slumber, before continuing to the Great Hall, where four spectacular feast tables summon guests to uncover hidden stories about the beasts as the secrets of the Winter Palace slowly unravel.

Guests can meet wandering characters alongside playful puppets, costumed performers and charming installations, including Yale, the devoted caretaker of Princess Unicorn, attending her very first Ball, to the ancient Green Man, storyteller of the Masked Court, who carries tales of the beasts and their gatherings.

They can also learn how the sleeping Dragon anchors the magic of the Winter Palace while mischievous mice and woodland creatures scurry in the Wine Cellar below.

A neuro-inclusive Relaxed Event will take place on 8 December, inviting disabled, learning-disabled and neurodivergent visitors of all ages to enjoy the Christmas experience at a gentler pace.

Meanwhile, beyond the ballroom, guests can also glide across the iconic Hampton Court Palace Ice Rink (running from 20 November 2026 to 3 January 2027), a sparkling outdoor centrepiece set beneath a canopy of twinkling lights.

In the gardens, they can browse artisan food and drink at the annual Festive Fayre (4 – 6 & 11 – 13 December), returning for its 11th year, with carefully curated gifts alongside a host of boutique businesses and independent retailers.
