Pub chain Greene King, which has thousands of pubs across the country, is set to close dozens of venues and cut up to 800 jobs.

It has obviously been an incredibly tough time for pubs with the whole industry shutting down for three months and more recently the 10pm curfew being introduced.

A spokeswoman for Greene King said: "The continued tightening of the trading restrictions for pubs, which may last another six months, along with the changes to government support was always going to make it a challenge to reopen some of our pubs.

"Therefore, we have made the difficult decision not to reopen 79 sites, including the 11 Loch Fyne restaurants we announced last week.

"Around one-third will be closed permanently and we hope to be able to reopen the others in the future.

"We are working hard with our teams to try and find them a role in another of our pubs wherever possible."

So where in Teddington could be affected?

The only pub ran by Greene King in the town is the Tide End Cottage.

The riverside pub is located on Ferry Road and has a beer garden.

The Metropolitan Pub Company are owned by Greene King and have a number of venues across the capital.

One of those is the Teddington Arms - located on the high street.

It is unclear as yet whether these latest job cuts affect Metropolitan.
