Former NatWest bank in Teddington under offer from ‘independent retailer’ tenant
A potential tenant has put in an offer for the former NatWest bank building on High Street in Teddington.
6 High Street is currently on the rental market as a Class E commercial unit for £4,583 per month.
Commercial property company Brasier Freeth told Nub News it has received an offer from a potential new tenant for the building's ground floor retail unit, although the process is still in its early stages.
Anthony Appleby, the letting agent responsible for the property, says the offer is from "a very nice independent retailer" looking to bring their business to the centre of Teddington.
"We had a reasonable amount of interest when it first went on the market," says Mr Appleby, with the old bank offering period features like its iconic pillars.
However, the agent explained the curved frontage of the property has been seen as "difficult" by some prospective tenants, as has the prospect of heating the unit with its tall 4.2-metre ceiling.
"It doesn't have all the glass at the front that retailers are looking for," he added.
The building has largely remained unoccupied since NatWest closed its Teddington branch, one of 128 closures in October 2017.
While in its early offer stages, this new 'independent retailer' could breathe fresh life into one of Teddington's largest retail units.
The full listing for the property can be found on Brasier Freeth's website here, or Rightmove here.
