Floral tributes to the Queen at Hampton Court Palace

By Stuart Higgins 14th Sep 2022

Floral tributes to mark the death of Her Majesty The Queen have been placed outside the gates of Hampton Court Palace.

Passers-by and visitors to the Palace stopped to read the touching and poignant words of respect and gratitude as The Queen's coffin was taken from Buckingham Palace to lie in State at Westminster Hall this afternoon.

A black notice from the Historic Palace stood alongside the floral tributes.

It said: "Historic Royal Palaces joins millions of people around the world in mourning the death of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth 11. Her Majesty was our longest reigning Monarch and will be remembered for a lifetime of service.

"We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Royal Family. Our thoughts are with them at this time."

The Union Flag at the Palace remains at half-mast and the Palace itself will be closed on Monday 19 September for Queen Elizabeth II's State Funeral.
