Hampton Court Palace is 'lit up' by the early morning sun as if it is in the middle of the annual Hampton Court Festival which usually features a host of top acts.

This year Ricky Astley, Lionel Richie and Tom Jones were due to appear but the entire event, due to start next month, has been cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

A statement on the Hampton Court Palace festival website says: "In light of global health concerns regarding COVID-19 and current restrictions and advice from the UK government, we regret to announce that Hampton Court Palace Festival will not be taking place this year.

"This decision has been made following careful consideration, as the health and safety of everyone involved in the festival remains our top priority.

"If you have purchased tickets, you will receive an email from the ticket agent you booked with containing further information on your specific show and refund options.

"We thank all our loyal festival fans for your ongoing support, and look forward to celebrating everyone coming together again for Hampton Court Palace Festival in June 2021. "

Take a nostalgic look back at last year's festival
