The South East Environment Agency and Surrey Police have been removing abandoned boats in the Thames at Teddington.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), The Environment Agency SE warned boat owners to ensure their boats are properly registered.
"It added: "Sunk and abandoned boats blight the River Thames, and we are aware of the impact they can have on those who live near or use the river.
It is not our role to clear up after irresponsible boaters.
"It is boat owners' responsibility to make sure their boat is registered and complies with our registration requirements – including having insurance and a valid boat safety scheme certificate.
"Non-compliance could lead to prosecution or the boat being removed."
You can find out more about registering your boat here.
The team has also been removing abandoned boats from the Thames at Molesey.
