Arts Richmond has recently launched its latest poetry prize which continues to be supported by Roger McGough, one of the country's most famous poets.

Poets are invited to submit their poems on the theme of 'Changes'.

The launch took place at a poetry event at Hampton Hill Theatre last month.

Arts Richmond's Administrative Officer, Linda Hansell, said: "There was huge interest from the large group of local poets, many of whom performed as part of a Poetry Cafe event."

Although the competition is largely focused on local poets, including those in Teddington, Arts Richmond accepts entries from around the country.

The Closing date for entries is 17 January 2025.

Poems can be up to 40 lines in length and there are prizes of £250, £150, and £75.

A judging panel, set up by Arts Richmond, will select 40 poems for the final judging by Roger.

Roger will present the winning poets with their prizes at an awards event at the Exchange in Twickenham on Sunday 1 June at 3pm.

The 40 poems will be published in an anthology to mark the event.

Hansell said: "What makes this event unique is that the final 40 poems will be read by actors experienced in the performance of poetry."
