Elleray Community Association seeks new Chair

Elleray Community Association (ECA), the charity that manages the new Elleray Centre in North Lane in Teddington, is seeking a new Chair.
The centre will become the new home of the ECA's social club, which provides activities, entertainment, outings and a healthy home-cooked lunch to help keep older members of the local community, fit, healthy and entertained.
After many years as Chair, Joan Barnett, BEM will be retiring soon after ECA has moved into the new centre in October.

An ECA spokesperson said: "This will be an exciting time for our charity as our immediate mission will be to expand the range of services we offer to members of our social club and introduce new classes, courses and activities to appeal to a very broad cross section of the local community.
"So, although our focus will remain on enhancing the lives of older or vulnerable local residents, we are committed to ensuring that the new centre becomes a thriving community asset of value to all local residents."
The new Chair should have experience either as a trustee or in running committees or managing aspects of a service or business.
As well as acting as a spokesperson and figurehead for the charity, they will be instrumental in providing the ECA's committee of trustees with the strategic leadership necessary to ensure that the charity achieves its mission.
The ability to engage with stakeholders and collaborate effectively with staff and volunteers as well as other charities, institutions and the local authority is also vital.
If you are interested in the position, you should either contact ECA on 020 8977 0549 or by emailing [email protected] to arrange an informal discussion with ECA's current chair or to receive full details of the role and personal specification.
