Cyclist who studied in Teddington sets new Paralympic World Record
A cyclist who studied in Teddington set a Paralympic World Record in Tokyo last Saturday (August 28).
Corrine Hall MBE took Sports Science at St Mary's University, which has a campus in Teddington, and before this studied at Esher College.
After graduating in 2013 Corrine joined the Team GB cycling team as the sighted pilot for Lora Fachie.
The pair have won a total of 18 medals from Paralympics and world championships, including Gold and Bronze at Rio in 2016.
Corrine was thrilled when on Saturday 28 August she and Lora defended their 3000m Individual Pursuit B title.
As well as winning Gold for Team GB, the pair completed the race in 3:19.483, setting a new Paralympic record.
In a post on Twitter she wrote: "What a day, Paralympic champions and World record holders.
"Overwhelmed by all the messages of support, it means so much!"
Head of Sport St Mary's, Andrew Reid-Smith said: "Corrine and Lora have competed together since 2013 and their success in Tokyo adds to their incredible haul of World and Olympic medals.
"To improve upon the medals they won in Rio and break the pursuit world record is a wonderful achievement, and is testament to their ability to produce world-class performances when it really counts."
