Crime in Teddington rose by 40 percent in July compared to June.

This is not a complete surprise as the reopening of society was always going to lead to more crimes being committed.

70 crimes were recorded in Teddington during July, compared to 50 in June and just 32 back in April - although this was at the height of lockdown.

Crime across the whole of London rose by more than 11% during the same period.

Theft is still the most common form of crime in Teddington - with 42 instances across June and July.

'Violence against the person' came in second with 28 counts.

Teddington sits in the middle of the safest areas in Richmond with South Richmond having the highest number of crimes - with 122 in July.

Fulwell and Hampton Hill is the safest residential area - with just 30 crimes occurring there in July.

Richmond upon Thames however, is still one of the safest borough in London.

Looking at all figures since March when lockdown occurred Richmond has the third lowest crime rate with only Harrow and Bexley having less crime.

Richmond Borough had 24.07 crimes per 1000 people - so you can definitely still feel safe on the streets of the borough.

All these statistics were compiled by the Metropolitan Police - and you can investigate them for yourself HERE
