Despite the lockdown there's plenty of creative activities based in Teddington that you can take part in while keeping to social distancing rules.

Get your theatre fix

For those who like the theatre, Teddington Theatre Club have been performing a number of plays online.

The Club have been performing a show every Sunday via Zoom and have taken on classics such as 'Pride and Prejudice' and 'Arsenic and Old Lace.'

Usually based at The Hampton Hill Theatre, artistic director Lottie Walker described the challenges the pandemic has placed on the theatre industry but also the success of the online plays.

She said: "This has been absolutely devastating for the theatre industry.

"But the online play readings have been successful and there is a real community spirit amongst our members."

The club is anticipating that events through the rest of the year will be cancelled but you can follow them on Facebook to keep up to date.

Sing your way through social distancing

If singing is something you enjoy music teacher Carl Speck's online singalongs are a perfect way to keep you in tune with your hobby.

Carl usually runs pub singalongs across South West London, including one at The Anglers in Teddington, but has managed to successfully move these sessions online.

The singalongs occur over Facebook Live and Carl welcomes singers of all abilities.

He said: "I think singing offers a great escape from the real world at the moment.

"The songs are one's that everybody knows and it's a great chance for people to socialise and not feel isolated."

Use your camera to get through Coronavirus

If photography is more for you then Click Photography Workshops have launched a new one-a-day project for children between year four and eleven.

The project encourages students to take photos in their home, garden or on their daily walk.

Students from 21 schools, including from Teddington School, are already taking part and Click founder Sheridan Morley has spoken of the success of the project.

She said: "The project has just completed its first month and the pictures we are receiving are stunning.

"It's a labour of love for us – completely free and our small contribution to the situation we find ourselves in."

The best images from the project will be featured in an exhibition in October at The Rose Theatre in Kingston.
