Council offers funding to Teddington residents for green initiatives
By Tilly O'Brien 27th Jan 2026
Richmond Council is offering funding to Teddington residents who submit their climate action ideas by Friday, 27 February.
The council's climate action microgrants offers between £100 and £500 to community groups, schools, individuals or non-profits to run events, activities and initiatives that promote positive behaviours in the community around climate change and sustainability.
As part of this funding project, Richmond Council says it wants "to help spark and support locally-led climate action initiatives, providing small scale funding to help your local green initiative get off the ground or grow an existing project".
Around six grants will be awarded every other month over the next year.
Previous examples of projects which the council has funded include Twickenham Repair Café, a sustainable Lego club in the Museum of Richmond, and the transformation of a small greenspace in Morland Close, which saw the building of an insect hotel, creating a stag beetle loggery and planting 84 wildflower plugs.
Anyone living or working in the borough of Richmond upon Thames can apply for a microgrant. You can apply as an individual, school, a community group or non-profit organisation.
This year, the council has a separate dedicated funding pot for schools.
