Teddington Nub News aims to be supportive to EVERY element of the community from business and shops to people and charities and clubs and sports organisations.

Everyone is finding it tough at the moment and is desperate to get back to normal.

We will be profiling some of these local businesses and groups regularly over coming weeks in a feature called CLOSE UP IN TEDDINGTON in the hope that we can be a supportive springboard for your full return to business as usual.

Today we talk to Harry Mann, a committee member for NPL Hockey Club.

Q: So can you tell us about NPL Hockey?

"So the club is based right here in Teddington and used to be open only to members of the National Physical Laboratory (NPL) however now is open to anybody.

"We have two men's teams and a ladies team. We also have family hockey on the weekends so we really are open to everybody.

"We have around 50 regular members."

Q: How was lockdown for the club?

"We were heavily affected as our whole season was abandoned back in March.

"Financially we are lucky that people have continued to pay their subscriptions but we lost out on a lot of summer hockey."

Q: Are you back training now?

"Yes we're finally back out there and training two to three times a week.

"We're hopeful that the season will start next month."

Q: Tell us about converting the Bowls Pitch into more training space?

"So unfortunately the Bowls Club folded which meant there was extra space that wasn't being used.

"We converted it into an extra pitch - and even though we don't usually train on grass it has been a great use of the space."

Q: How can you join NPL Hockey?

"The easiest way to do it is to email [email protected] and then just come down to a training session."
