Lifeboat charity RNLI is holding an open day at its Teddington Station this weekend.

Set to take place on Saturday 25 May, the day offers a glimpse into day-to-day operations at the station, hidden in plain sight under the residential Fairmile House on Twickenham Road.

To mark the RNLI's 200th anniversary, the historic lifeboat 'William Riley' will be showcased at the event.

At around 2:30pm, a total of 25 rowers will complete a two-day row in the 115-year-old craft from Gravesend along the Thames to Teddington Lifeboat station.

Joining 'William Riley' will be a number of volunteer crew members, along with other emergency services with a number of special vehicles rarely seen by the public.

A number of stalls from the RNLI and local boat clubs will also be at the event, as well as refreshments from nearby restaurant and jazz venue The Wharf

Among the stalls will be Skiff Club, Royal Canoe Club, Richmond Bridge Boat Club, Tamesis Club, Rotary Teddington and the Hamptons, and Twickenham Yacht Club.

Matt Allchurch, Lifeboat Operations Manager at Teddington's lifeboat station said: "It is always great for us to meet local friends on our Open Day.

"This year is very special as we celebrate 200 years and the great effort by the teams who will have rowed the William Riley 50 miles."

The open day will run from 2pm to 5pm on Saturday 25 May at Fairmile House, Twickenham Road, Teddington, TW11 8BA, opposite The Wharf Restaurant.
