Local riverside restaurant The Wharf is hosting its spring jazz festival in Teddington this weekend, featuring an international (and local) cast of jazz musicians on Saturday 18 May.

The Wharf Jazz Festival's lineup includes international jazz, soul, and blues artists, alongside names from Teddington's own jazz scene.

Several of the performers are Soho veterans, playing at iconic venues like Ronnie Scott's and Crazy Coqs.

"We're bringing central London to Teddington," says The Wharf's owner Barbara Radseresht, adding: "Why get a train into town when it's all right here?"

With a mix of new and familiar faces, Barbara says audience members can expect "an eclectic jazz mix," with French jazz rubbing shoulders with Latin influences.

The restaurant and music venue has also shared its plans to spread "some Jazz Festival good time vibes through the neighbourhood," with a procession from The Capital Blue Jazz Roaming Band down Teddington's High Street.

The band will reach The Wharf at 12pm, where its leading musician, singer-songwriter Oilver Darling, will perform.

"We've booked 100 tables in the day, and 100 tables in the night," explains Barbara; however, the owner is still hoping for more visitors, with a few tables and bar space available for any last-minute attendees.

This year marks the second springtime Wharf Jazz Festival.

Barabara says their most recent festival in the winter "was like New Years Eve," describing it as "a massive success, a real packed house".

Diners and jazz fans can expect the music to take centre stage at The Wharf, quite literally – Barabara says the central stage in the restaurant lets performers become "a real focal point" during their set.

Families are also welcome to the event, with kids eating free and face painting from 11am to 5pm to help keep them busy.

The festival's full lineup and schedule can be found on The Wharf's website here.

"Remember to bring your dancing shoes," it adds.
