British Army officer and Teddington resident dies while on combat in Ukraine

According to Oxford Mail, an inquest opening has heard that a British Army officer has died in Ukraine.

Jake Waddington, 33, was an officer cadet in the British Army who resided in Cambridge Road in Teddington.

He died on 6 January this year in the village of Mali Shcherbaky, Vasylivka District, Zaporizhzhia Region in Ukraine.

An inquest was opened into his death at Oxford Coroner's Court on Wednesday, 19 January.

The court heard that Mr Waddington was killed while on combat operations in Ukraine.

A medical cause of death has not yet been provided, but he was identified by his squadron leader at the John Radcliffe Hospital on 7 February.

Coroner Nicholas Graham will set a date for a full inquest to take place on 29 July at 10am.
