From July 4 - now dubbed Super Saturday - the government has announced that pubs, restaurants and other hospitality businesses as well as libraries and cinemas will be allowed to reopen their doors with strict new conditions.

They must, however, comply with social distancing guidelines, with the distance now being reduced from 2m to 1m this makes re-opening achievable and viable with new rules in place.

The owner of Teddington restaurant One One Four, Sam Berry, was delighted with the news.

He said: "It's super positive. At 2m social distancing we probably couldn't reopen so this is really good news.

"We may have to lose a few of our tables but nothing too disastrous.

"We will operate a reduced service to start with and go from there."

Like many other businesses One One Four has a number of staff on furlough, who can start getting back to work over the next few weeks.

Sam is hoping that Richmond Council are flexible and allow more outside seating to compensate for the reduced inside numbers.

In terms of customers looking to visit restaurants and pubs again Sam is confident people are keen to get out.

He said: "Since the announcement I've already had 40 emails asking to book a table.

"People just want that sense of normality back."

The government also announced plans to reopen other venues such as cinemas and museums as normality slowly begins to resume across the country.

IF YOU ARE A RESTAURANT, CAFE OR ANY OTHER LOCAL VENUE AND YOU WISH TO SHARE YOUR PLANS FOR RE-OPENING PLEASE LET US KNOW AND WE WILL LET EVERYONE KNOW.
