An authentic 19th Century Swiss chalet with a riverfront view shipped over and rebuilt in 1862 is up for sale in west London - for £3.5m.

The unique Grade II-listed, four-bedroom estate also boasts a cinema room, picturesque gardens and a view of scenic Bushy Park.

It is located just a stone's throw from the royal Hampton Court Palace - once a preferred residence of Henry VIII - and spans an acre of land.

At one point in its history it even boasted an indoor beach.

It was formerly owned by millionaire houseboat tycoon Myck Djurberg who was recently jailed for 12 years having been found guilty of a £3.5 million fraud over claims he sold houseboats around Hampton Court, a stretch of the river Thames that could not be lived in.

The genuine ski chalet is more commonly found in the Alpine mountain range of Europe than the London Borough of Richmond-upon-Thames, and was originally shipped over to the UK from Switzerland in 1882 for use as a boathouse.

But the property has since been converted into a unique family home with its own boathouse and yard, with moorings for multiple boats.

The Chalet at Hampton Court offers accommodation across five floors; the first of which includes a beautiful terrace overlooking the River Thames.

Just off the terrace is a spacious dining room leading into a kitchen and breakfast room.

On the ground floor of the property, the main drawing room is accompanied by a garden room, which is accessed via an internal bridge over the lower ground floor and gives access to the extensive riverside gardens.

An additional reception room can be found in the basement of the chalet - along with a cinema room.

Bedrooms are found on the third and fourth floors of the property, which has three bathrooms, and the main bedroom even has a balcony.

Two floating leisure docks also on the riverside require planning consent, which they do not currently have.

The house also used to boast an unorthodox, heated 'indoor beach', which has since been removed.

Hampton Court Village is a mere half an hour away from the property and offers a selection of bars, cafes, boutiques and restaurants, as does the larger Kingston upon Thames, which is 1.4 miles away.

The chalet also overlooks the picturesque Bushy Park, with Hampton Court Palace a short walk away.

The high-profile property is on the market now at a sale price of £3.5m, with Philippa Sole.
