Attempts to stop visitors by car to Bushy on another busy day

Bushy Park authorities were scrambling to deter people from visiting yesterday on a busy first weekend of the new lockdown.

There was huge traffic on Saturday and many motorists were forced to turn around after finding all the car parks were full.

Bushy is managed by the Royal Parks charity which told people not to travel by car in a post on its Facebook page early on Sunday morning.

"Following the traffic jams and full car parks yesterday we encourage you to leave your cars at home if you can," the post read.

"Unfortunately many people who drove were unable to enter the park."

While not quite matching the scenes of Saturday, the car parks filled up by Sunday afternoon.

Royal Parks said Bushy's car parks were "experiencing similar crowds" as those in Richmond Park where visitor levels reached seemingly record levels.

How was your experience of Bushy Park over the weekend?
