Visitors arriving to Bushy Park today by car were forced to turn around after finding all the car parks full on an extremely busy day in our popular green space.

Royal Parks said the roads inside Bushy were "gridlocked". There were similar scenes in Richmond Park.

Council leader Gareth Roberts tweeted a video of traffic at a standstill around the Diana Fountain. "If you were thinking of taking a drive to Bushy Park, maybe it's worth giving it a miss," he said.

A post on the Bushy Park Facebook page read: "Please note that due to the impact of the lockdown Bushy Park is extremely popular today. Please note all the car parks are full and cars are turning around on arrival.

"The roads are now gridlocked due to the volume of vehicles in the area.

"Please take care and thank you for your consideration."
