Application submitted to change Teddington shop signage amid national rebrand

An application has been submitted to change Teddington's WHSmith's shop signage to fit the company's high street store rebrand with TG Jones.
The chain announced the £76m sale of its 233-year-old high street businesses to Modella Capital - the firm which owns Hobbycraft – back in March.
The deal covered 480 stores nationwide, including WHSmith on Broad Street.
The high street stores are now having the WHSmith name removed to be replaced with TGJones.
The application, which is for the WHSmith located in 66 Broad Street, seeks permission to replace the existing signage "like for like, WHSmith to TG Jones".

The proposed works include external works to replace the main shopfront signage. Signage will be replaced in like for like size, build, and colourways, so will not interfere with the aesthetics or integrity of the building in any way. Existing fixing points will also be reused to avoid creating any extra holes or disruption.
The new signage will be a fascia sign with a height of 1.235m and a width of 5.35m.
Richmond Council is yet to make a decision on this application.
