The arts have really suffered this year - which is why we are thrilled to feature Arts Richmond today.
This is part of our ongoing 12 days of Christmas series featuring some great local good causes.
Arts Richmond is a voluntary organisation and independent charity with 140+ affiliated societies based in and around the borough of Richmond upon Thames.
They represent the voluntary arts sector on the borough council's Arts Advisory Forum and provide a wide variety of services and events aimed at promoting local arts and cultural activity so that people know What's On and How to get Involved in the thriving local arts and cultural scene.
Arts Richmond's objectives
Promotion of arts activity in the borough, most especially, but not exclusively, of the activities of 100+ affiliated societies
Stimulus to participation, in particular through competitions and exhibitions encouraging individual activity
Encouragement of accessibility to events for all member of the community
Encouragement of diversity of participation by performers and audiences
Publications
Arts Richmond publishes 11 monthly newsletters per year, distributed to members and to the public via the Public Library Network and other cultural venues throughout the borough
They also provide the opportunity for affiliated organisations and other local cultural organisations to include flyers with our mailings to cut down the cost of individual mailings and to ensure that the information is targeted on those who are most interested in receiving it.
Funding
Arts Richmond is partly funded by the borough council to produce our monthly newsletter, but over half their annual income comes from subscriptions from the societies affiliated to us and their members, as well as the fundraising events that they hold.
