Teddington salon collecting Ukraine donations thanks "amazing" locals for their support
A BEAUTY SALON in Teddington collecting donations for a local Ukraine relief effort has thanked the town's local people for their generous support.
Simply Skin on Broad Street opened a drop-off point last Friday (4 March) for sanitary products, baby food and nappies in a bid to help the efforts of Twickenham Ukrainian restaurant Prosperity which is sending vans of supplies to the invaded country.
The beauty and skin centre has since been inundated with bagfuls of urgently needed supplies, many of these bought from the Boots opposite, bought by locals seeking to support the people of Ukraine.
Just a day after the appeal was launched, Simply Skin praised the "amazing" people of Teddington on for the number of donations it had received.
Writing on Twitter yesterday, the salon said: "A car full of baby items (formula and nappies) and sanitary wear was taken over to Twickenham at lunchtime and already we have another car load to take.
"You have all been amazing, thank you so much #Teddington"
The salon told Nub News that they have sent off one carful of donations to the restaurant and have another two to go, adding that one generous couple even brought a trolley full of items from the local Tesco.
People wanting to help Ukraine can also donate to the DEC relief fund's Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal.
Members of the public have donated £100 million in just four days to the appeal which will provide food, water, shelter and medical assistance to the two million people who have fled Ukraine following the invasion last month.
Richmond Council have also released a list of resources HERE with information for people affected and ways in which residents can help.
