LOCAL pub The Anglers will be hosting a Fish Supper next week to support the RNLI in their bid to build a better station on the Thames.

The pub by Teddington Lock are putting on their annual 2-course meal and classic pub quiz in aid of the lifeboat charity which have a station on Teddington's riverside.

Earlier this year the popular pub hosted a night of comedy and a silent auction to support the Teddington & Twickenham RNLI branch.

Next week, however, Teddington's community will be supporting the neighbouring RNLI Tower station in Westminster which is the UK's busiest lifeboat station.

A team of 55 volunteers work 12-hour shifts to ensure that the station is always staffed with a crew ready to respond to an emergency.

But the station building at Tower is old and suffers constant bumping around, while the facilities are also lacking with no privacy for casualties brought in by lifeboat crew.

Because of this, the RNLI want to raise £33,000 to prepare, build, and commission a new station at Tower.

And £5 of the £20 tickets for the Anglers' fish supper next week will go directly to the appeal.

The event on Friday evening will also feature delicious food from 7pm including sharing platters to start, followed by a classic fish pie or vegetarian meal option.

After dinner will be a pub quiz with great prizes up for grabs, and the night is due to end at 10 o'clock.
