Hampton Court Palace's amazing open-air ice rink, located in front of Henry VIII's historic home, opened today.

The official opening was slightly delayed as the weather was so mild it was a challenge to form the ice.

The Christmas ice rink, which will be open until January 9 (except for Christmas Day) offers festive fun for everyone of all ages, from beginners to experts.

Skating sessions are available from 10am until 8pm when the Palace is bathed in multi-coloured lights.

All that slipping and sliding and even the odd tumble can build up an appetite and skaters and spectators can take a breather in the Ice Rink Café and Bar, which will be serving up winter warming platters, sweet and savoury treats and seasonal beverages.

More details can be found HERE.
