Teddington Choral Society will take audiences on a tour of musical history next month as it puts on a special concert to celebrate its 70th birthday.

Sopranos, Altos, Tenors and Basses - plus piano accompanist Phil Culling - will perform classical and modern favourites with Mozart, Gershwin and many more on the menu.

The evening of song will have a festive twist with the audience invited to join in singing their favourite Christmas carols.

Musical director Julian Collings leads the concert and acclaimed Soprano Lisa Swayne is joining them for the occasion.

The "entertaining and moving" evening is set to take place at December 4 2021 at 7.30pm, in the stunning surrounds of the Landmark Arts Centre. Tickets are £15, click HERE for how to book.

About Teddington Choral Society

Founded in 1951 by Lisette Brooks, Teddington Choral Society has had only seven Musical Directors in its more than 60 years.

Prestigious venues the choir has performed at include the Royal Albert Hall, the Royal Festival Hall, Alexandra Palace, and other centres outside of London.

Closer to home the choir has sung at Twickenham's Kneller Hall with the Band of the Royal Military School of Music and over in Richmond at Kew Gardens.

Distinguished batons Sir Malcolm Sargent, Sir Adrian Boult, Sir Yehudi Menuhin and Vilem Tausky have all helmed the choir.

Other historical highlights include performing the world première of Geoffrey Bowyer's A Pilgrim's Requiem, with Cantanti Camerati and the Teddington Symphonia.

Singers from TCS have also made it to the silver screen as part of the choirs for Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason and The Theory of Everything.

From 2015 to 2017 the choir offered workshops on performance and presentation skills and also offered 1:1 singing lessons.
