A petition has been launched to save a popular Teddington community centre.

Elleray Hall is scheduled to be demolished and moved to a new site on the current North Lane East Car Park.

Where the hall is currently situated would be developed into a small number of social houses according to plans from Richmond Council.

A number of residents however are not satisfied with the plans and have launched a petition.

The petition has three aims: to save the car park, save the Elleray Hall site and stop over-development.

The petition organisers believe the hall should be redeveloped on the current site and the removal of the car park would impact on local businesses.

They also describe the council's housing development plan as 'completely unsuitable'.
