Working from home is something that we have all gotten used to in the last 12 months.

It seems that the era of the office may well be in the past.

Reach PLC - who own the Mirror, Express and Star have announced a huge scaling back of their office space.

Indeed perhaps what made Nub News deal with the pandemic so well is the fact that all our journalists are spread out over the country and based at home anyway.

So what is it like working from home as a journalist?

Well the main negative is the lack of a newsroom.

I definitely miss spending time with other journalists and also it is a lot easier to ask for advice when someone is sitting right next to you.

However there are plenty of positives too.

Being in the heart of the town makes stories so much easier to track down.

Plus you get a feel for the local community just by taking a walk outside.

No commute to Central London is also a huge benefit.

Overall I'm not surprised more news organisations are moving to home working.

While the newsroom will be missed it is easier to get good quality stories when they are on your doorstep.
