Hampton Wick high street is hosting its first ever Summer Fete tomorrow featuring food stalls, music stages and a celebrity guest!

Funded by the Council, the fete is a way for the town to say WELCOME BACK to residents after a long 18 months of lockdown and also support local businesses following a tough year for high streets.

Music-lovers should definitely check out the event's musical line-up which features 6 fantastic local acts including the Tony Heiberg trio playing jazz, Emily Jeon on classical guitar and John Lennon lookalike (and soundalike) Phil Marshall.

Closing the day will be musician and actor John Altman, known for his memorable stints as Nick Cotton on TV's Eastenders and his time fronting the Heavy Metal Kids band on vocals.

Altman, who lives in Hampton Wick, will be singing original material and a range of classic 60s hits and be backed by local band The Dukes of Rock which counts Charlie of Charlie Chandler's Guitar Experience as a member.

Hampton Wick Summer Fete will take place on the corner of Park Road, just next to the Forester's Arms, from 11am to 6pm on Saturday 18 September.

Naturally Italian, Zai Cafe, Hampton Wick Health, WholeHarmony Wellbeing and City Lofts London will all have stalls at the event, and The Foresters Arms will provide a hog roast and popcorn for punters.

There'll also be plenty of entertainment for kids including face-painting and an animal balloon creator.

Hampton Wick Councillor Jim Millard told Nub News: "This is a fantastic opportunity to welcome back residents to our High Street and celebrate all our wonderful independent local businesses.

"They've been through a really tough time and they need our support now more than ever.

"I'm really proud the council has been able to provide funding and support to make this event happen, working with the traders under the newly formed 'Hampton Wick Business Network' which will help to ensure a strong voice for our High Street to organise events and work with us as councillors and with the Hampton Wick Association, who have been so brilliant and and supportive, to represent the High Street's needs and ensure we can work with them to deliver on their priorities.

"Together we can ensure Hampton Wick thrives as the heart of this wonderful community."

Petra Fleming, also a councillor for Hampton Wick, added: "I'm delighted that we have been able to support local traders and Hampton Wick High Street with this fantastic event and provide an opportunity for local residents to get together and have some fun.

"There are an eclectic mix of independent shops, cafes and pubs which make Hampton Wick unique and a wonderful place to explore."
