In a new appeal the charity which runs Bushy Park has urged people to leave their car at home this weekend.

Both Bushy and Richmond Park have been very popular visitor destinations over the November lockdown.

Ahead of the weekend, Royal Parks wrote on social media: "With limited places to visit due to the lockdown, all our parks, but especially Richmond and Bushy Parks, can be very busy at weekends.

"Even during the week, on dry, sunny days it's not unusual to see our car parks full by 10am, which can lead to long delays and cars being turned away on arrival.

"To avoid disappointment, we strongly recommend that visitors leave their cars at home during peak times such as weekends, and when the weather is good.

"Together, Bushy and Richmond Parks provide 3,600 acres of historical parkland for visitors to boost their physical and mental health, which means that, once people are in the parks, there is plenty of space for visitors to spread out and keep a safe distance from others."
