SHAKESPEARE'S WOMEN
By Lorien Haynes
Following on from two sold out readings, starring Tamsin Greig, at Shakespeare's Globe last year, we are delighted to be hosting yet another reading of this play by Lorien Haynes.
This dark comedy transports ten of Shakespeare's women from the 16th century to the modern day, placing them in the same domestic abuse support group. Centuries have passed but little has changed as they come together to eat biscuits and talk. The play gradually exposes each woman's darkest secrets and asks, what would happen if these protagonists survived their men and traditional narratives, to become flesh and blood today?
In support of Refuge, the Company and Director Jude Kelly shine a light into areas of domestic abuse.
The play reading will be followed by a Q&A with Jude, Lorien and company members with a representative from Refuge.
