World Metrology Day celebrated at NPL

The National Physical Laboratory is celebrating World Metrology Day by opening their doors.

Metrology, the science of measurement, enables pioneering digital technologies and allows research, innovation, manufacturing and trade to flourish in the UK. On World Metrology Day, May 20th, NPL is celebrating by opening their doors. Join them to find out how their scientists and engineers are supporting the UK's digital journey, enabling innovation and improving the quality of our everyday lives using measurement science.

Visit the labs and see their science in action by watching a live simulation of road vehicle sensors used in driverless cars, seeing inside an MRI scanner and exploring the physics behind solar energy and the technologies that will help us reach net zero.

Take part in interactive activities, including making your own gas standard using balloons, creating a self-portrait with our AI artist and meeting their SI bots.

Admission to the Open Day is by ticket only for all visitors.

Adults - £3, Children under 16 – free. All proceeds will be donated to Diabetes UK charity, therefore there are no refunds.

Tickets are allocated by time slot for your arrival. You may arrive at anytime during your time slot booking.

Last entry time is 18:00. The site will close at 19:00.
