Visible Mending Workshop

Learn how to breathe fresh life into your old and frayed – but still beloved – clothes! Rather than throwing them away and adding to landfill, our class will show you how to live a little more sustainably and give your clothes a new lease of life.

In this relaxed Sunday afternoon workshop with talented Jennie Chambers, you'll be shown various hand sewing techniques to mend and embellish garments.

During the session, Jennie will demonstrate different visible mending techniques, including Sashiko stitching, which you can then use on your own items of clothing (or if you prefer it, you can practise the skills first on fabric samples we'll bring along).

As most garments lend themselves to being mended by hand, you won't need to use a sewing machine at all.

Not only is this a great way to extend the life of your clothes, but it also allows you to create beautiful and original garments.

We'll provide a range of small pieces of fabric which you can use to patch up garments, together with linen and Sashiko threads. Either bring along an item that you'd like to mend and embellish, or we'll have some you can practise on.
