For young people aged 14-18 years old. This 2-hour class introduces stone carving, allowing participants to carve an image onto a flat tablet of limestone using hand tools. Suitable for beginners, this hands-on class fosters creativity and skill development.

Skills Developed:

• Designing relief
• Using a flat chisel to set out design
• Making textures with a claw chisel
• Using a rifler to smooth design and add detail

Materials Provided: Stone, tools, and safety equipment included. Bring an apron, old clothes, and stout shoes.

Materials Required: Optional: Prepared design, sketches, or pictures for inspiration (simple images with bold, clear outlines are best).

Tutor: Amanda Randall, stone sculptor inspired by plants and fungi.
