Open to all adults – some experience of painting would be helpful. This course teaches techniques in watercolour painting and drawing, botanical art, and illustration. Flowers, foliage, and plants are observed with step-by-step demonstrations focusing on accurate and realistic depiction.

Skills Developed:

• Drawing accurately for botanical painting
• Observational skills to render a realistic depiction
• Watercolour painting skills for botanical art
• Tonal contrasts and textures to create a 3D effect
• Composition and design for a well-balanced result

Materials Required: Pencils (HB and 2H), plastic rubber, palette, water container, kitchen paper roll, notebook, artist-quality watercolours (minimum of 6 basic colours), fine point brush, paper available for purchase from the tutor.

Tutor: Marcia Hughes, renowned local artist and experienced teacher.
